This photo was taken in my own garden. I wanted so badly to get this butterfly in front of my lens and I finally succeeded. Wow!
Beautiful and oh so fast.
The hummingbird butterfly, madder arrowtail or restless butterfly is a butterfly from the pintail family. The hummingbird butterfly can be recognised by its grey to brown forewings with two separated dark brown, thin and slightly jagged stripes on the upper side. The hind wings have an orange colour on the upper side. The wingspan is about 5 centimetres.
The butterfly is considered a common and numerous species that is not threatened.
The adult butterflies suck nectar from flowers of plant species from different plant families. The hummingbird butterfly is active during the day but can also be found flying at dusk and 'night.
This plate will look great in your living room or in a company, for example. Beautiful on its own but also wonderful to combine with other nature pictures's in the same colour.
