About ‘mini Japanese zen garden’ by Peter Hermus
Japanese mini rock garden (枯山水, karesansui), sometimes also called zen garden, is a shallow pit filled with sand, gravel, stones or other natural elements. Often the sand is used to create the effect of water through wrinkles and patterns. Plants are sometimes present, but are not an essential part of the rock garden.
