About the artwork
A tranquil moment at Lake Chiemsee, where the setting sun bathes the landscape panorama in soft orange and deep blue. Dark, delicate trees stand in the foreground, their silhouettes framing the view of the horizon and the lake. The last light of the day shimmers through the treetops and is gently reflected on the calm surface of the Chiemsee.
On the right-hand side of the picture you can see a bench on which two people are sitting peacefully next to each other, gazing into the distance and enjoying the sunset. The trees, some of which are still sparsely covered with leaves, act as natural guardians of this scene and emphasise the contrast between the cool shadows of the forest and the warm tones of the sky.
Lake Chiemsee, also known as the "Bavarian Sea", stretches out in the background, while the shimmering sun leaves a delicate golden stripe on the water. The gentle hilly landscape on the other shore is bathed in a soft, dreamlike light by the last ray of sunshine.
