for vangarmen on the water near locks and weirs you often find enormous accumulations of dirt. and sometimes very beautiful ones, like here at a weir near the brabant village of esch. it looks like a landscape captured by a satellite, but it is just a beautiful abstract pattern on the water of the essche Stroom.

i once was a journalist working for dutch regional newspapers. the writing kind, not a photographer then. in the last years of my carreer in newspaperland i ended up as a freelance photojournalist en photographer, combining photography and writing. and now i am retired and my profession has turned into a hobby again. still i have that journalistic approach in my photographic work. i do a lot of streetphotography nowadays. and i like doing reportage, landscapes and portraits.
