The great bustard is a large, heavy flightless bird. The male grows up to one meter long and is clearly larger than the female who is about 80 cm. The Great Bustard needs a large, quiet breeding area. Due to the lack of such areas, the bird has disappeared in large parts of Europe. The great bustard currently breeds in the vast agricultural areas and steppes of Eastern Europe, Spain and Portugal. This photo was taken in the Körös-Maros N.P. in Hungary.
