The great egret (Ardea alba) is a white bird in the heron family. Previously, the bird was also known as Egretta alba (Linnaeus, 1758) or Casmerodius albus.
Physical characteristics.
At 85-100 cm long, the great egret is the same size as the grey heron,[2] with a wingspan of 1.45 to 1.70 m and a weight of 1 to 1.5 kg.
Reproduction
The great egret nests in trees, often in colonies with other colony-breeding waterfowl.

Food
The great egret feeds on fish, amphibians, small mammals and sometimes reptiles and birds. They forage mostly in shallow water, but also on land. Their hunting technique is simple: standing motionless for long periods until prey approaches, or very quietly wading in pursuit of prey. Once close, they impale ("thread") their prey on their dagger-shaped beak.
My name is Anne.
I regularly go out with my camera. I do so with great pleasure and always find gifts appearing on my screen.
This I want to share!..
