Zomerweelde, Jac van Looij, ca. 1890 - ca. 1910
It seems as if Van Looy has generously strewn blue flowers on this large canvas. On a longer look, the artist's house in Soest and the hay carts behind the high hedge stand out, and in the front right-hand corner, between the flowers, a fallen pot. Here the painter is clearly inspired by Van Gogh's landscapes, but the depiction of nature and the incidence of light are more realistic.
