About ‘Zandwijk Mill’ by Martijn de Waal

Zandwijkse Molen is a polder mill dating from 1699 located between Uppel and Sleeuwijk.

The mill is the last remaining mill of a series of seven mills that stood side by side.

The mill operated the polder until 1961, first together with the other six mills and later with the help of a diesel pumping station built on the foundations of one of the old mills. In 1953, after the flood disaster, the mill independently drained the polder because the diesel pumping station had become inoperable due to salt water.

The Zandwijk Mill has stood on an artificial islet in the meadow since 1972. The water around the islet was dug to create a so-called circular pumping circuit. To maintain it, the mill must be operated regularly. The water around the mill then allows the scoop wheel to turn again.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
