About the artwork

The Zaanse Schans is a historic Zaan neighbourhood in the municipality of Zaanstad, which was founded in 1963 with national monumental wooden buildings and industrial mills from the Zaan region relocated to it. In the course of time it has been supplemented by various cultural-historical museums, craft shops and catering establishments. It is located in the Kalverpolder, a protected peat meadow landscape on the Zaan, opposite the village of Zaandijk. Because of its architectural-historical and landscape value, this architectural reserve for Zaanse wood construction is a protected village view. It developed into an international tourist destination with several million visitors every year.

From 1963, many old wooden buildings from the Zaan region were brought to the Zaanse Schans extension plan with flatbed trailers and restored to their former glory. Transportation by low loader was preferred in order to preserve the wooden authenticity of a building as much as possible. However, concrete was chosen as the foundation instead of traditional wooden poles with cesspits. Long registration lists were drawn up for the habitation of the neighbourhood. By 1970, fifteen houses had been rebuilt.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
