Woudbloem
Woudbloem is situated about 1 km from Scharmer and consists of a number of houses. These houses belonged to a large, in 1982 demolished, potato flour factory that gave this hamlet its name. The former factory was located between two old rivers, the Slochter Ae and the Scharmer Ae, which flow into the Slochterdiep at Schaaphok and continue as the Woltersumer Ae a little north of this. The number of inhabitants of Woudbloem is decreasing, in 1930 there lived still 173 people, in 2009 this number was only 99. Main cause of this is the closure of the potato flour factory.
