The Ir. D.F. Wouda Pumping Station is the largest steam pumping station in the world that is still in operation. Queen Wilhelmina opened the old steam pumping station in the year 1920. Until 1966, the water was pumped away in this way. From then on, the Wouda Steam Pumping Station was reinforced by the electric Hoogland Pumping Station in Stavoren.
