Mossy tree trunks arching over a trench in a mountain forest. The morning we hiked up the mountain with our little dog was still young and fog was still lingering on the plateaus where some of the woodlands are situated. We climbed a particularly rocky path, much to the delight of out dog and then on the side, there was this wonderful scene with a trench filled with the fallen leaves of previous years and a tree that was arching over it. When the sun started to rise, the fog was illuminated creating truly magical light conditions combined with the first autumn colours of the season.
Ellen Borggreve is a landscape photographer and author of Woodscapes and Praxisbuch Wälder fotografieren, among others. She was born and raised in the woods of the Veluwe where her love for trees originated. Besides forests she also likes to photograph Dutch coastal scenes.
