This photograph was taken on the tiny island state of Comoros, of the east coast of Africa.
The face paint is called Thanaka and made of tree grounded tree bark, something the locals (mostly the women) smear on their skin as decaration. You will see a wide variety of patterns used. It also serves as sunscreen.
My photography always brings me to inspiring and rare-travelled places. I hope that my work inspires you to explore, to wander and to learn more about our beautiful planet.
