Winter scene | Girl skates on natural ice by Lauren Wilde

A pure Dutch winter scene in which a girl skates calmly across the natural ice. The moment feels simple and genuine, as if time has stood still for a moment. Farmhouses and bare trees can be seen in the distance, gently reflected in the smooth ice, giving the picture an open and spacious feel. The painting style is loose and painterly, with visible brushstrokes that bring movement and life to the scene without disturbing its calm character. At the same time, the work evokes the feeling of the old Dutch masters, in which light, composition and simplicity combine to create a timeless atmosphere.

The colours are cool and bright, with lots of light blue, ice white and soft greys, complemented by warm accents in the girl's jacket and the winter light on the horizon. This combination creates a nice contrast between cold and warmth, typical of a Dutch winter day. The girl moves relaxed and free, giving the work a sense of youth, unconcern and nostalgia.

This artwork appeals to people who love the Dutch landscape, winter memories and recognisable moments from everyday life. It fits beautifully in a living room, kitchen or hallway and looks good in rural, Scandinavian or modern interiors. On the wall, this work brings the peace, simplicity and timeless charm of a truly Dutch winter into your home.
