About ‘Winter in Amerongen’ by Jan de Jong

A winter photo of a familiar spot in the village of Amerongen (Gem. Utrechtse Heuvelrug). The photo shows a row of houses from the 18th century that are still inhabited, At the end of the row of houses stands the Andrieskerk (late 13th, early 14th century), the tower is 55 metres high and dates from the 16th century. Over it all is a layer of snow.
This place is known among the inhabitants of this village as "The Huchie". The word "Huchie" in local dialect means "Hill".
The graphic artist and painter Anton Pieck once made a watercolour of this spot from almost the same angle as in the photo.
In the background, a beautiful sky of snow clouds.

Jan de Jong (1948), woonachtig in Amerongen, is al lange tijd bezig met het fotograferen van alles wat hem boeit. Hij werkt vooral met een Canon 5D digitale spiegelrefelex met 24-105 mm. objectief.

Er is niet direct sprake van een specialisme in zijn fotografie, hoewel hij in dieren en macro-fotografie vaak zijn onderwerpen vindt. Ook reisfotografie komt regelmatig terug in zijn werk.

Bij zijn reisfotografie ligt de laatste tijd de nadruk op mensen.…

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
