Winter wonderland in the German Harz! The Harz is Germany's northernmost low mountain range. Its highest mountain is the Brocken at 1142 metres, which belongs to the Harz National Park. This national park covers about ten per cent of the mountain range. The Harz has traditionally been an important mining area. The mountain formation at the end of the Paleozoic Era, the Hercynian orogeny, was named after the Harz. This breathtakingly beautiful view of this frozen lake amidst lots of beautiful nature
