Blink of a cheetah, Namibia
The cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus) is a large cat-like predator that still occurs in Africa and Iran. It is the only living species of the genus Acinonyx. The cheetah is known as the fastest land animal in the world.
The cheetah is adapted to hunting with a short, very fast sprint. He is slender, flexible and muscular, like a greyhound, with a powerful chest, a long tail and for a feline very long legs, with which he can push off hard. The bones of a cheetah are light and flexible, and he has a relatively large heart and large lungs.
The cheetah has a light yellow coat, which is covered with small, round, black spots. The underside and chest are almost entirely white. The head is quite small, with small ears and large, orange eyes. The forehead and cheeks have very small black spots. From the inner corners of the eye to the mouth there is a black stripe, and the lower lips are also black. The back of the ears has a black and white marking. The tail is spotted, but has a series of black rings at the top and ends in a black tip of the tail. The shape of the rings and the quantity vary from one individual to another, similar to the fingerprint for humans. Sometimes a moon of long hair runs over the neck and shoulders. Especially with young cheetahs, this moon is striking.
