Ironmill K and L
String mill L is a string mill built about 1627 in Rustenburg, which was fitted with an auger in 1838. The mill is a thatched octagonal mill of the ground sailor type with an old Dutch sails. The mill, like more North Holland polder mills, is an indoor windmill. L windmill is equipped with a Flemish block catcher. Next to the mill are two other mills, Strijkmolen K and Strijkmolen I. The mill contains a dwelling; the auger and spindle have been removed and the watercourses filled in after the level of both basins was levelled in 1941, so that the mill lost its function.
In 2011 the mill's biotope was greatly improved: trees and bushes in the vicinity were cut down. The old storage basin has also been partially reconstructed, giving the area a more original appearance.
Since 2000, Strijkmolen L has been the property of the Schermer Molens Foundation, which merged with the Schermer Molens Foundation in 2014 and is not open for visits.
