At the Damsterdiep in Ten Boer in the province of Groningen stands the corn mill De Witte Molen (The White Mill) and since 2010 it is owned by the Groninger Landscape Foundation. Around 1922 the mill got an engine and the sails and cap were superfluous and were taken away. For 70 years there was only a stone substructure. In 2007 the mill was completely restored. I took this picture between hail, snow and sun on the day that a record attempt to turn the windmill was held throughout the Netherlands. The slightly slower shutter speed shows the effect of the movement of the sails.
