The Siege of Naarden was a siege by a Dutch force under command of General Kraijenhoff from 17 November 1813 to 12 May 1814. The French force under General Quetard de la Porte refused to surrender after being surrounded, and continued to offer stubborn resistance, complicated by the fact that many soldiers, mainly Dutch in French service, deserted. The city would finally surrender after the publication of the Treaty of Fontainebleau (1814).
