Wild, deserted nature reserve in Sicily by Silva Wischeropp

This unique, enchanting and untouched natural landscape in the Monte Cofano nature reserve on the island of Sicily was taken in the late evening hours of 18 April 2019 with the Nikon D90 camera (lens: NIKKOR 18.0-70.0 mm f/3.5-4.5).
The nature motif was created during the golden hour.

The Monte Cofano nature reserve is a wild, unspoilt corner of western Sicily.
This nature reserve Monte Cofano is a protected area between the municipalities of Custonaci and San Vito Lo Capo in the beautiful province of Trapani and is one of the most interesting natural attractions for Italian and international tourism. Surrounded by silence and nature, this place is a true jewel on the north-west coast of Sicily, criss-crossed by numerous paths where time seems to stand still.
Monte Cofano is a mighty natural rocky outcrop between the beautiful bay of Castelluzzo to the east and the Gulf of Bonagia to the west.
The reserve can be easily explored on foot - enjoy the marvellous, wild and unspoilt prairie landscape with its countless dwarf palms, whose shades of green contrast with the cobalt blue of the sea, while the sweet grass glistens in the warm Sicilian sun.

The 537-hectare nature reserve includes unspoilt bays, steep cliffs, grottos, coastal watchtowers and defence towers, as well as countless paths where you can lose yourself in the beauty of the view and the natural elements.
It is home to more than 300 plant species, many of which are extremely rare, as well as mammals and birds that, together with the other natural elements, make it a unique place of biodiversity.
