In the mountains near Geiranger in Norway, I spotted this bird on an electricity cable. I think it's a White Wagtail. The little animal stayed on that cable for a while, so I had time to photograph it. He was brushing himself with his beak and he was looking around. There was some wind, the feathers of the bird are a bit shaken.
I thought it would be nice to also include some of the surroundings in the photo, so that there is more to see than just the wagtail and to give the photo some more depth. I didn't have much space, but I was able to play with the composition a bit with my camera. In any case, I wanted the mountains to be visible in the background. And those mountains are not very nearby. I myself was on camping Dalen Gaard, which is situated a bit higher southeast of Geiranger. The mountains in the photo are all the way on the other (north) side of the Geirangerfjord, about 5 km in a beeline from where I was standing, but we could see them well from our campsite. Since it was early June, there was still snow on the mountain tops. Together with the clouds in the sky, the snow-capped peaks form a beautiful, natural backdrop for the wagtail that has chosen a good spot to observe its surroundings.
