The White Sands National Park (for December 20, 2019 White Sands National Monument) is a National Park and National Monument in the United States, located approximately 25 km (25 mi) from Alamogordo, New Mexico at an elevation of 1291 m (5,961 ft). The area is part of the mountain-surrounded Tularosa Basin valley and contains the southern part of a 710 km² field of gypsum sand dunes.
On January 18, 1933, President Herbert Hoover declared White Sands a national monument under the Antiquities Act of 1906.
On December 20, 2019, White Sands became the 62nd national park of the United States.
