In the splendour of awakening:
In the quiet hall of Wat Suthat Thepwararam, in the heart of Bangkok, rests a golden eternity. Row upon row of gilded statues of the Awakened One sit - Buddha Gautama at the moment of enlightenment, in the Bhumispara mudra, the gesture with which he calls the earth to witness. Their splendour, nourished by centuries of tender care and countless offerings, reflects the light of the sun and the glow of the spirit at the same time. Each figure, seemingly identical, harbours an aura of its own, a silent whisper of peace, patience and boundless wisdom.
The gold that envelops her figure is more than jewellery - it is a symbol of purity, of the transformation of the earthly into the divine. Between the shadows of the old walls and the soft shimmer of the metal skin, time seems to stand still. You can feel the breath of the faithful who seek refuge here, the pulse of faith that has carried them through the centuries.
In this sublime stillness, the visible and the invisible meet: the material form and the infinite spirit. Thus the golden Buddhas linger, motionless and yet alive, as a mirror of enlightenment - and as a silent invitation to discover one's own inner splendour.
