About ‘Weathered shutters’ by Sander van der Werf

A textured sienna/yellow wall and weathered, grey shutters of a historic building in beautiful downtown Domodossola. The shadows of the shutters and the window sill make the shutters optically detached from the wall.
This Piedmont town in northern Italy is located amidst the mountains in the Ossola Valley, just 25 minutes by train from the Swiss town of Brig.
It is an ideal base for a hiking holiday in the famous Val Grande National Park. But also as a destination in itself, this town full of culture, history and culinary tradition is more than worth it.
A unique sight to see is the Sacro Monte del Calvario, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This 'holy mountain' is within walking distance of the city centre, and the route goes along a processional road with 14 chapels, richly decorated with frescoes and sculptures, among others.
On top of the mountain is the former Franciscan monastery, from where you have spectacular views of Domodossola. The 'climb' up to it requires some effort, but is very popular for good reason.

As an outdoor enthusiast through and through, over the years he has become increasingly involved in (outdoor) photography, in addition to illustrating and creating murals. At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
