Juniper (Juniperus) is a plant genus in the subfamily Cupressoideae within the cypress family (Cupressaceae). With about 50 to 70 species belonging to this genus, they make up almost 40 percent of the species within the cypress family. In Central Europe only two species occur in the wild: the common juniper and the sade tree.
Junipers are coniferous trees and shrubs in the genus Juniperus of taxonomic viewpoint, between 50 and 67 species of junipers are widely distributed throughout the Northern Hemisphere, from the Arctic, south to tropical Africa, from Ziarat, Pakistan, east to eastern Tibet in the Old World, and in the mountains of Central America. The highest-known juniper forest occurs at an altitude of 16,000 ft (4,900 m) in southeastern Tibet and the northern Himalayas, creating one of the highest tree-lines on earth.
Juniperus is a butcher of conifers. The sliced is a fifteen to tenacious sort, the predominant occurrences in the moderate range of a notorious half-round, whereas a number of such occurrences occur in mountainous areas. The Juniperus communis (Juniperus communis) is a wildlife species in the Benelux, with names in the area and on support bases. In tuinen zijn that is better fororal populair as solitair.
