About the artwork
The photo shows a stretch of coast near Asilah, in northern Morocco. The image was taken from above, making the water of the sea form an almost abstract pattern. The waves move across the surface in gentle lines, creating light and dark shades of green. The foam edges of the water draw thin white lines, revealing the direction of the current.
The perspective from above makes it seem as if the picture has no beginning or end. The sea fills the entire image, focusing on the shape and colour of the water. The green changes depending on depth and light: sometimes bright, sometimes deeper in tone.
