Travelling through Switzerland and Italy, I passed the village of Triberg in the Black Forest. There you can find Germany's biggest waterfalls and I wanted to photograph them. It was a dark rainy evening. Thanks to the rain, the colours were beautifully saturated and because it was dark, I could easily work with long shutter speeds, which gave the waterfall's waterfall its moving effect.
The Triberg Falls, one of the highest in Germany, are one of the most popular natural sights in the Black Forest. Here, the water of the Gutach river plunges a total of 163 metres down in a series of spectacular cascades, divided into three main sections. The middle section of the falls is often seen as the most impressive, as the force of the falling water is clearly visible here and the surroundings form a picturesque backdrop of dense forests and rocks. This section offers several vantage points where you can experience the water up close and feel the energy of the waterfall.
For photographers, the Triberg Falls are particularly attractive. By working with long shutter speeds, you can capture the flowing water as a gentle, flowing stream, giving an almost dreamlike effect. This often requires a tripod to avoid vibrations and keep the surroundings in focus. The contrast between the flowing water and the solid rocks and trees makes this technique ideal for capturing the dynamism and tranquillity of waterfalls.
