Among the greenery, a waterfall glistens. In a place that only the locals know. Because this is a place not even marked on Google Maps. Which makes it all the more interesting. If you manage to find it, then you are probably the only tourist here.
Nowadays, all you see here is a waterfall. But until a few decades ago, there was also a paddle wheel of a water mill connected to it. Just imagine how fast that wheel would have turned!
This place is near the northern Albanian town of Kukës, really away from the highway. I'll give you one tip: this waterfall is right on the oldest road from Kosovo to Tirana. Sometimes this is a cart track, sometimes a road made of cobblestones.
Every few hundred meters you will come across groups of houses that are still inhabited. These are the people who use this road.
This waterfall was a cool discovery for me. The sun especially shone on the greenery and rippling water at the bottom of the photo. To me, it exudes freshness and optimism of nature. We are talking about one of the last pieces of wild nature in Europe. And that is exactly why I am not revealing the location.
