This is something I can photograph endlessly and keep looking at: the sparkles on the water. Which during golden hour are even more beautiful than usual because of their golden colour. This is one of my favourite images I have shot and is still my screensaver on my phone.
During sunset in Ibiza, the surface of the water turns into a magnificent display of twinkling lights. As the sun slowly disappears behind the horizon, its golden and orange light casts an enchanting glow over the water. The waves, subtly stirred by the wind, catch the last rays of the sun and refract them into a thousand sparkles. This effect creates a fascinating pattern of shimmering dots that make the surface look like a carpet of diamonds, hence the name "water diamonds."
These sparkles are created by sunlight hitting and reflecting off the water surface at a low angle. The movement of the water refracts the light rays in different ways, creating the illusion of a sparkling surface. The term "water diamonds" perfectly captures the magic and beauty of this natural phenomenon, with the effect of the sun on the moving water creating a luxurious and enchanting appearance. This moment, brief and fleeting, is a reminder of the wondrous beauty that lies in the simplicity of nature.
