Walk over the edge of the volcanic crater of Krafla, Iceland.
Krafla is a volcano and volcanic system in the north of Iceland near Lake Mývatt. The system has a diameter of about 25 kilometres. The volcano itself is 818 meters high and consists almost entirely of tefra. The area around the Krafla has been active several times in the past centuries.
Víti is now a deep and steep crater with a diameter of 320 meters that is partly filled with blue-green water. You can walk around the edge in a quarter of an hour, which in rainy weather makes a thick layer of clay blubber grow on your shoes. Behind the crater is a small solarium field with warm mud pots and steam plumes.
