The Waaigat on Curacao connects the Scharloo district with Pietermaai and the rest of the Punda district. Despite being located between these two districts, the Waaigat is not an inland water and is connected to St. Anna Bay, which in turn is directly connected to the Caribbean Sea.
On the right, you can see a restaurant in the foreground with a barque behind it. On the left, the Scharloo neighbourhood. On the left in the middle the Frater Aurelio S.B.O. school where various courses can be followed.
The Pieter Maai district is also called the Latin Quarter of the island by Curacaoans.
At Waaigat you will also find, among others, the monument to the fallen, in memory of those who fell in the Second World War.
