Vintage botanical illustration featuring orange flowers and butterflies by Studio Pieternel

● Exclusive design for Werk aan de Muur / Art Heroes

This vintage illustration print brings a warm, natural atmosphere to any room. The composition features an elegant botanical branch with soft, orange flowers that contrast beautifully against the light background. Two fluttering butterflies lend the piece a dynamic and lively character, creating a sense of tranquillity and movement.

This work is based on the work of the French painter and botanist Pierre-Joseph Redouté (1759–1840). Redouté was also known as the ‘ "Rafaël van de bloemen" ’ and was the official court painter to Queen Marie-Antoinette and later Empress Joséphine de Beauharnais. His speciality was capturing lilies, roses and other flora with the utmost precision and grace, often combined with insects to create a lively effect.

The earthy tones of this artwork blend seamlessly with modern interior styles such as Scandinavian or industrial interiors, where natural elements often take centre stage. This piece also comes into its own in a country-style setting thanks to the classic appeal of the flora and fauna. The colours have been carefully composed to create a warm and inviting atmosphere in the living room, hallway or bedroom.

Thanks to its subtle texture and contemporary colour palette, this artwork serves as a stylish focal point on the wall. It is a timeless piece that makes a strong visual impact, whether displayed on its own or as part of a larger collection.
