About ‘View over San Gimignano’ by Jeroen de Jongh Photography

San Gimignano is a medieval walled town in the province of Siena in the Italian region of Tuscany. The place attracts many tourists, especially because of its special medieval architecture.

San Gimignano is known for its fourteen towers that dominate the silhouette of the city. These were built between the 12th and 14th century by wealthy families. The towers served as a home and reinforcement, but above all as a prestige object. During the battle between rival families, i.e. between supporters of Guelphs on the one hand and Ghibellines on the other, people entrenched themselves between the towers and fought their often bloody feuds. At its peak, the city had 72 towers.

In the late Middle Ages this city was very prosperous because of its location on the pilgrimage route to Rome. But the plague epidemic of 1348 and later the rerouting of the pilgrims' route meant the economic ruin, but the preservation of its medieval character.

In 1990, the historic centre of San Gimignano was included in UNESCO's list of World Heritage Sites. San Gimignano is one of the best preserved medieval towns in Tuscany and is therefore one of the busiest.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
