The Dom tower is an iconic Gothic structure and the symbol of the city of Utrecht. It is the tallest church tower in the Netherlands and has a rich history closely associated with the city. Built between 1321 and 1382, the Dom Tower was originally part of the Dom Church. In 1674, the nave of the Dom Church was destroyed by a severe storm, so the tower has been separate from the rest of the church ever since.
