River landscape in the floodplain of the Lek near Vianen. Opposite the mouth of the Lekkanaal there are a number of groynes separated from the main channel by a new breakwater. This has resulted in a freshwater tidal creek that falls dry at low tide. The former sandy beach and the bank have been completely covered by ships due to the reduced erosion caused by waves.
