About ‘Venice’ by Leo van Valkenburg

Venice (Italian: Venezia, Venetian: Venèsia) is a city in north-eastern Italy. The city was founded in the fifth century and is built on 118 small islands. Known worldwide for its historic centre with its many ancient buildings, bridges and canals, Venice is a major tourist attraction.

Located on the Adriatic Sea, the city was Western Europe's gateway to the Silk Road for centuries and played an important role in European history. Venice brought Europe innovations such as exchange and credit banks, accounting, bond markets and major improvements in shipbuilding. From Asia and Egypt, techniques around sugar cane, silk, glass blowing and jewellery were introduced. Since 1987, the city of Venice and its lagoon have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The municipality of Venice officially had 254,850 inhabitants on 31 December 2021, of whom 50,434 lived in the historic centre of the city of Venice itself (centro storico), 26,795 on other islands belonging to the municipality, and 177,621 on the mainland, mainly in Mestre.[2] It is the capital of the Veneto region.

What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
