About "Vase from above (#11, vase from Bartje (thrift store))"

About the artwork

A vase of flowers, but photographed from above. An alternative point of view that produces a simple graphic image. Almost abstract.
The flowers themselves are not visible and the dark stems are hardly a clue as to which flowers they are.
We see the almost colorless vase with a single flower and the stems projected as shadows at the bottom of the image. In the shadow we may recognize what kind of flowers are involved: lilies (Callas).
The dark edge of the vase subtly counterbalances the prominent dark flower stems.

I have made quite a series of these still lifes, each time with different vases and flowers. Sometimes very colorful, sometimes more subdued as in this work.
In the title of the work you can often recognize where or from whom I bought the vase. Or borrowed it.

About Kees Schouten

After leaving the academy in 1984, I painted for many years. Since about twenty years I have really only made photographic works. Mostly still lifes with glass vases. Glass is a fantastic -but also difficult- material to photograph.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers. Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
