About ‘Vaporwave 80s sunrise’ by Franka Poulain

This vapourwave artwork from the 1980s is a visual feast of neon colours and nostalgic elements. The composition is dominated by an intense, purple sky that evokes the atmosphere of a dramatic sunset.

Stylised mountains rise on either side of the image, their silhouettes sharply outlined against the vivid sky. These mountains are rendered in deep shades of blue and purple, with neon pink and orange accents accentuating the contours, as if they were glowing in the last sunlight.

At the centre of the composition stretches a lake, its surface a mirror of the colourful sky above it. The water is rendered with subtle ripples and reflections in shades of turquoise, pink and lavender, creating a dreamy, surreal atmosphere.

The sun, on the point of setting, is depicted as a perfect circle in bright neon orange or pink, casting a warm light over the entire scene. Beams of light shoot from the sun, their colours transitioning from yellow to pink and purple.

The overall style is deliberately retro, with a digital, almost pixelated quality reminiscent of early computer graphics. The colour palette is bold and saturated, with heavy use of neon pink, electric blue, bright purple and cyan.
