Valldemossa is a municipality in the Spanish province and region of Balearic Islands with a surface area of 43 km². Valldemossa has 2,003 inhabitants (1-1-2016). The mountain village lies in a valley on the island of Mallorca, at an altitude of 420 meters above sea level. The place is internationally known for the stay (over 3 months during winter 1838-1839) of the composer Frédéric Chopin and his muse, the writer George Sand in the 14th century Carthusian monastery.
