I felt strangely drawn to uprooted trees, ones with their roots exposed, but still holding on. In retrospect, this was how I felt. I remember this morning so well. I had arranged to meet another photographer, but I wanted to go to this forest first. Sunrise is very early in June and I was hoping to be there on my own. Some mist started building up and the sun was rising in the background and when I made this image, all felt well again. This is what photography has always been for me, my way of connecting to the beauty of life, of living. I looked at my LCD screen afterwards and saw little backlit paintings and this is what I emphasized later when processing the files. In my shop you can also find a horizontal version of this scene which can no longer be photographed like this unfortunately. It was magical while it lasted though
