Not very deep underwater where the sunlight can still shine brightly, the colours of the coral come out perfectly. The deeper you go, the more colour you lose. To show the original colours in deeper water, you need bright flashes. The range of those flashes is about 5 metres. In this photo, you see the foreground in all its glory and in its true colour. In the background, you see the colour without flash.
