About the artwork

Portoferraio is de grootste stad op het Italiaanse eiland Elba en een gemeente in de provincie Livorno (regio Toscane). De meeste bebouwing van Portoferraio is gesitueerd op een kleine heuvel die aan de noord-, oost- en zuidzijde omsloten wordt door de Ligurische Zee. Portoferraio werd in 1548 opgericht door Cosimo I de' Medici, groothertog van Toscane. Hij gaf het de naam Cosmopoli, wat Cosimo's stad betekent. De stad bleef eigendom van de groothertog van Toscane tot in de 18e eeuw. De stad werd nu opgeëist door Engeland, Frankrijk en Oostenrijk en in 1814 als ballingsoord overgedragen aan Napoleon Bonaparte. In de 19e eeuw groeide de stad snel door de aanleg van infrastructuur op het eiland en de exploitatie van nieuwe ijzermolens in Rio Marina. Portoferraio werd de belangrijkste haven van waaruit het erts naar het vasteland werd verscheept. Aan deze tijd dankt de stad zijn huidige naam: Portoferraio betekent ijzerhaven in het Italiaans. Na het einde van de napoleontische tijd werd de stad weer eigendom van Toscane, en onderdeel van het Koninkrijk Italië in 1860.
De economie van Portoferraio heeft sinds de jaren 70 geleden onder het einde van de mijnbouw, maar de laatste decennia is de stad weer opgebloeid door het opkomende toerisme.

What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers. Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
