U 552 was a German Type VII C submarine. It was put into service on 4 December 1940. The commander of the boat was Kapitänleutnant Erich Topp until September 1942, after which the boat was commanded by Kapitänleutnant Klaus Popp.
Because of its successes and the red devil painted on the turret of the boat, U 552 was also called the "Devil's Boat".
Here painted by Peter Schmidt on canvas in acrylic paints.
