Two tall trees with bare branches on a spit of land in the water. It is the end of a sunny day in the Dutch winter season. The photo was taken in the flooded Noordwaard polder, National Park De Biesbosch. The flooding of the polder is the result of the high water level in the adjacent river Nieuwe Merwede. As part of the large project Room for the River, which will last more than five years, the Noordwaardpolder was made suitable in 2014 for the temporary storage of excess water in order to prevent flooding in undesirable places.
