Two Birds on a Sunflower | Worth the Wait by KRAB

Two goldfinches on a single sunflower. It sounds simple, but anyone who’s ever tried to photograph a goldfinch knows just how tricky it is. They’re fast, unpredictable, and couldn’t care less about the image you have in your head.

This piece began in a sunflower field in Kirchzarten, a small village in the Black Forest near Freiburg im Breisgau. I stood there'for about two hours amongst the flowers, waiting for that one moment: two goldfinches, together on a single flower. Eventually, I succeeded. That photograph formed the basis, which was then refined using Midjourney and finished in Photoshop to create this piece.

The result is intense in colour yet serene in feel. The radiant yellow of the sunflowers, the vibrant red and black of the goldfinches, the deep blue sky – everything comes together perfectly, as if nature itself had composed it.

Two Birds on a Sunflower | Worth the Wait is a square artwork, which makes it versatile in an interior. Square artworks hang well on their own as a tranquil focal point, but also in a symmetrical composition with a second piece. The bright colours call for space around them; a light, neutral wall allows this artwork to come into its own.
