The sun was just rising, the valley was still a bit misty and there was not a breath of wind.
Ideal conditions for the landscape photographer.
On the right in the photo, the small chapel among the cypress trees (Cappella della Madonna di Vitaleta in Val d'Orcia) which you find between Pienza and San Quirico d'Orcia.
It stands one end of the road between these two places; you can also get there by an unpaved road.
Slightly left of centre in the photo, you can see on the horizon the church tower of Pienza, a much visited town, known for its Pecorino cheese.
