A Tribute to Edgar Degas (1834-1917) he was a French impressionist painter and sculptor. His favorite subjects were portraits, as well as ballet, horses, jockeys, Parisian nightlife, and grooming women. He painted with pastels and oils, and he turned to other graphic techniques. Although Degas is generally considered to be primarily a painter, he was also an outstanding sculptor, his sculpture 'Dancer Girl of Fourteen Years' being an absolute highlight. With this unique sculpture he gave a major impetus to the development of the history of sculpture.
