About "Tribute to Claude Monet"

by Harry Hadders Design

About the artwork

A tribute to Oscar-Claude Monet (1840-1926) he was a French impressionist painter. He was very fascinated by the Japanese wooden bridge over the water lily pond in his garden, which he painted several times (this artwork is a digital variant of the 1899 version). The various layers of depth in the painting show what a master he was in rendering on canvas what he saw. With this he succeeded in what the impressionists wanted to do: capture the visual aspect of everyday reality, without psychologising or referring to classical antiquity or other historical themes. Monet became known in the Netherlands through the works he painted during his stays in Zaandam (1871), Amsterdam (1874), The Hague and the Bulb Region (both in 1886). His house, the garden and the water lily pond were donated to the Académie des beaux-arts by Monet's son in 1966. In 1980 the house and garden were opened to the public.
