The European tree frog - the name says it all - is found in almost all of Europe. This photo was taken in the Netherlands, where the species is relatively rare. And it is quite a special photo, because during most of the day the tree frog will lie on a leaf of a tree or shrub in the sun, recharging for the night. This specimen had just about had enough of that and had just left its leaf - no doubt to quickly find another one. But this too, the tree frog does at a relaxed pace, so there was still enough time to take a picture. A big advantage is that tree frogs do not jump away when you approach them. They rely on their camouflage - which is is indeed very good, because you have to do your best to spot them! Unless they are sitting on a branch, of course.
